The Speed of Light Visualized

Light is the fastest thing in the physical universe, right? When you take a step back and look at it though, it's actually quite slow.

This is how long it takes for light to travel from the Earth to the Moon. Light still looks fairly fast at this scale.

But now look at light traveling from the Earth to Mars. This video is in real time.

And at this scale, light speed seems painfully slow.
