If you want to really, really geek out...
I love to geek out on science fiction and astronomy. In my opinion, the knowledge we have gained in astronomy in recent years is astounding, and rivals any other area of science.
I recently discovered Isaac Arthur. He has a podcast / YouTube channel in which he ponders really fantastic things, such as colonizing Mercury, Dyson Spheres, the Fermi Paradox and more. But Mr. Arthur doesn't talk about these things as mere fantasies, he truly looks at the science behind it, and he is ridiculously smart.
In my opinion, listening to Isaac Arthur should be the first stop for anyone writing science fiction.
