God gave us free will to chose the life we want to live, which goes back to my point that many people have chosen to give up their freedoms.

What I'm saying is that our country is so divided that I don't know if we can come together again, which means that to keep our country as one means that one side has to force their opinions on the other side. As far as the view that "well, people's values are just different". I think a better view can be found in the verse that reads "Let God be true and every man found a liar."
