As you explain it, evil and darkness may not exist, but there is certainly a lot of pressure "out there" trying to ensure that light should be extinguished, too.

I like the words of Alberto Villoldo that "Nothing that has to hide in the shadows has any real power of its own." In other words, the shadows/darkness/evil are powered through the energy/attention/belief that people give them. I think we should not underestimate the extent of the belief in darkness. Also, the discussion of dark things in a way "feeds" the darkness - but talking about it hopefully makes people who will listen aware. What about those who hide their heads in the sand and don't want to hear about it? Your idea?

The energy that feeds evil is fear and anger and selfishness, which again indicate a lack of God's love in one's heart. This is why evil tries to generate fear, to close your heart. I visualize it like this: Love is not a feeling. Love is a river or a wave flowing from God through me to the world. Just as a light bulb doesn't have light of its own, but rather it shines when it is powered from another source (God). I also visualize it as a pipe. If I close the pipe on either end, the flow of God's love shuts down. So this means that you have to accept God's love and feel worthy of God's love, and then you have to let it shine. You have to give love however the love inspires you. Our job is to keep the pipe open and let God's love flow through us, and as we do this, God will increase the size of our pipe so more love can flow through.
