Today I want to introduce you to a new perspective on health.

When you think of health, most people naturally think of physical health, but for this discussion, let’s think about health in terms of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Now let’s take this a step further and imagine that each of these dimensions has a body, so we have a physical body, an emotional body, a mental body and a spiritual body. These bodies exist in the same space and they overlap each other.

Balance

If you are feeling happy, healthy and well balanced, your bodies would smoothly overlap each other. The term “balanced” could actually be visualized as this clean overlap.

But sometimes you can feel out of balance. Let’s say that you are feeling emotionally stressed out. We may visualize this as your emotional body as being out of kink with your other bodies. This could be a small imbalance, or the imbalance could be significant.

So what is the best way to get your emotional body back into balance with your other bodies?

Some people would turn to drugs or alcohol, while others would go to a spa and get a massage. You will have to contemplate on what you really need to get back in balance (probably not drugs or alcohol), but you could try a different approach; instead of trying to relax your emotional body, try increasing the stress on one or more of your other bodies.

  • Maybe you need to increase your physical stress (physical exercise) to bring your emotional body back into balance.

  • Maybe you need to increase your mental stress. Write a story, or a poem or work on a difficult Sudoku puzzle.

  • Or maybe you need to focus on your spiritual body and give back more; help someone without looking for any credit.

The balance between these bodies is very important.

You can also use this perspective in other ways…

Nutrition

Each of your bodies needs to consume nutrients to thrive.

  • Physical Nutrition: Ingest healthy food, clean water and fresh air. Supplemental vitamins and minerals may be needed sometimes.

  • Emotional Nutrition: Walks in nature. Positive, uplifting people, books and movies.

  • Mental Nutrition: Positive learning and visual images. Ideas based on personal freedom that grants you and others freedom.

  • Spiritual Nutrition: Give unconditional love (you get love by giving love). Keep your heart open.

Toxins

While nutrition means putting good things into our body, it’s just as important to not put bad things into our bodies.

  • Physical: We want to avoid chemicals, heavy metals, radioactive metals, parasites, and bad bacteria. I also believe that it’s healthy to avoid electro-magnetic radiation, such as 5G. Drugs and alcohol. Too much computers and phones.

  • Emotional: We want to avoid bad attitudes, gossip and fear. We don’t want others to manipulate us and stoke our fear via the media or movies. Scary movies.

  • Mental: We want to avoid negative mental images that conjure up fear and hatred. Judgmentalism. Vanity. Mental rigidity.

  • Spiritual: We want to avoid anything that will cause us to close our hearts to love, distract us, tempt us or trick us.

Exercise

  • Physical: Physical exercise. Walking. Movement.

  • Emotional: Laughing with your friends. Crying when you need to.

  • Mental: Curiosity and mental exploration.

  • Spiritual: Giving and receiving love.

Dancing

  • Physical: Dance. Let loose and have fun.

  • Emotional: A sincere smile and laughter. Music.

  • Mental: Creation of art or poems.

  • Spiritual: Learning spiritual lessons and moving onto the next lesson. Granting others the freedom to be themselves.

Healing

  • Physical: Rest.

  • Emotional: Silence. Communing with nature.

  • Mental: Letting go of ideas. Mental flexibility.

  • Spiritual: Total trust in God.

Hopefully this exercise will help you look at your health differently. Ultimately, the physical, emotional and mental are temporary, while the spiritual is forever.
